What is LED exactly?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) is a diode of light emission, or more precisely, a semi-conductor that produces light radiation on the visible spectrum when the appropriate voltage is applied to its ends.

LED luminaires are composed of metallic and electronic elements, as well as point light sources. The LED point light sources are installed in a circuit that is pasted up on the appropriate heat sink, which in its turn manages the dissipation of heat.
